A rogue prince named Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) was once a street kid but long ago was adopted by the king and raised alongside the blood princes. Ben Kingsley plays his uncle who trains him in his sword skills. Wrongly accused in the death of the king, Dastan reluctantly joins forces with a mysterious princess Tamina (Gemma Arterton) and together, they race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time—a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.
