Russell Crowe (Gladiator) joins forces again with his five-time director Ridley Scott in this origin story of the fabled outlaw full of exhilarating, epic medieval battle scenes, An archer in the army of ruthless King Richard the Lionhearted, virtuous rogue Robin Hood rises from an unlikely background when fellow Crusader Sir Loxley is killed in battle, and he takes his identity, returning the knight’s sword to Nottingham, where Loxley’s own father (Max von Sydow) demands he maintain the deception. Loxley’s wife, the beautiful Lady Marion (Cate Blanchett), does not, at first approve; soon, however, the romantic fires smolder between the two leads.
